Old and new unite...

Friday we closed on our loan.  AWESOME.  We also ran around town getting all of our forms notarized etc. for the construction loan.  Talk about a production... FOR REAL... you think they'd just have all that stuff in the same building.  Oy.  Yesterday we went in to the builders' office, I met our general contractor Curtis, and we had our pre-construction meeting.  Hammering out all the minor details that pack a big punch... you know... outlets, pipe placement in the basement for a future bathroom... BOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRING.  While Bryan dealt with that, and I initialed when I needed to, I went around and took pictures of all of our finishes.  This was super fun for me because I'm VERY excited to mix brand new finishes with older finishes with all of my pickin' projects.  It's a nice yin and yang effect.

Let's start with the kitchen.

(Style... not color... cabinets are above, and all of our hardware is a brushed nickel.)
Our granite.  We'll be traveling down to High Point, NC to pick the exact slab we want (and we'll hopefully pick up some inexpensive pieces for the bathrooms as well... right now we just have standard bathroom counter top).
Here are the finishes in the master bath.  This is the tile that will be surrounding my new best friend... my soaker tub.
The faucet on the top will be in the master bath, and the bottom one will be in the remaining two baths.
 Master cabinetry...
... in this style... but with my own mirrors.
This is the carpeting for the upstairs.  Downstairs we'll have hardwoods throughout... Bryan will be doing them himself. :)  We have to have flooring in the entire house before we can occupy it.  The plan is to tile the two bathrooms upstairs as well, but we did choose vinyl JUST IN CASE.  If anything we have them install the vinyl, and then those are two projects for Bryan to do soon after.
The cabinetry in the girls' bathroom is identical to that in the kitchen.
 Guest bathroom downstairs.
This is the appearance of the bathroom cabinetry and lighting.  I'll add my own mirrors.
More big news... we're scheduled to break ground week after next!

Trunks, chairs, and doors... oh my!

Could you just die???? :)

Who needs an entertainment center???

Especially when you have this beauty!
This was an old built-in in the old farm house.  With a little doctoring and refinishing it'll be a beautiful book case for our living room... instead of an entertainment center purchase.  There are beautiful doors with old hardware.  It's going to look great housing all of our books and trinkets.  We'll be putting the tv above the fireplace, so the only purchases in the living room are now an area rug and another couch.  Huge budget saver. :)

Dining room

Another pie safe for the dining room...
Along with our old corner cabinet...
... with this chair next to it.

Spare bedroom #1

The new house officially has 4 bedrooms.  3 upstairs and 1 downstairs.  Upstairs there is also a bonus room over the garage... we'll be using that as Reese's bedroom.  The bedroom downstairs will be used as our guest bedroom.  Once we finish the basement (more than likely in a couple of years), the basement will also house a second spare bedroom.  The spare room on the main floor will have these gems in it...

... awesome green trunk sitting at the end of...
... one of these amazing metal beds.
And it sounds like there are quite a few pie safes in my future.  I love a good pie safe.  I think we can use our black pie safe in the spare room along with the mirror as an alternative to a dresser.
Can we break ground already? :)

Entry

Isn't this awesome?  It's a banister pole from the old farm house on Bryan's parent's property.  I want to use it in some way, and I'm thinking in the entry way is going to make the most sense.
You can barely see it, but these three items are sitting on top of a long white farm bench.... also a future tenant of our entry way. :)
Say hello to my new umbrella holder... aka... an antique crock.
I'm having so much fun!

Breakfast area

This next piece is an old sifting cabinet.  I don't even know if that's what you call it... HA!  It has a grinder/sifter thing in it, but it was too hard to get a picture.  I hope to strip and repaint this bad boy in a fun color (I'm thinking a green color

or maybe even a reddish color)
and putting it in the breakfast nook area.
This piece goes on top of...

 ... this piece.
Then we have our dining room table.  Rumor has it there is an old farmhouse table that Bryan and I may be able to have.  If that's the case, this old friend will be stripped and redone for the breakfast area as well.  We plan on stripping the black off, re-staining the top of the table, the benches, and the two chairs a medium to darker colored stain, and then giving the bottom a finish that looks like...
 ... this.
Fun huh? :)

Treasures for the girls

This past weekend, we went to visit Bryan's parents.  His grandmother had yet to meet the baby, and I had a barn to dig in... so we turned it into a big to do.  It was A LOT of fun.  I found some really great treasures that I can't wait to refinish/paint/repair for the new house.  Here are some pieces I'd like to use in the girls' rooms.

There are TONS of tables.  TONS.  I'm not sure what condition or the size of this little number, but it has really sweet shelving built into the ends.  I thought it would be perfect to make into a desk for Reese to do homework on in the future.  Yes, I realize she's not even in kindergarten, but we plan on hanging on to some of the furniture for future use.  It all belonged to Bryan's family, so it means a lot to us to re-purpose it.
Not sure if this was originally a vanity, but it soon will be!  Reese is already super excited. :)
There are actually two dressers like this beauty.  We're for sure using one of them in Berkley's room.  Her furniture is a beautiful wooden collection, and I think this would fit in really nicely.

For the girls

These photos are very helter skelter... no rhyme or reason, but I love all the elements.

The girls originally wanted to share a bedroom again.  We've since nixed that idea due to bedtime shenanigans.  It just seems so much more peaceful when they are separated. :)  This is the bedding Emma Grace chose (agreed to after I chose) for her new room. :)  I love it.  It's from JcPenney's, where I usually don't shop, but we were so pleased with Reese's quilt and baby furniture that I know I've made a great choice.  Plus... I REFUSE to spend Pottery Barn prices on things for children.  Nuff said. :)  That blue color there on the walls... that's the color the girls say they want on the walls in their rooms.  SOLD.  It'll be in all 3 girls' rooms along with their bathroom.  Not sure if we'll be dong a main focus wall like we did in the old house.  I'd like to have their rooms be the first ones done, so they can get used to their surroundings and feel like they have a bit of normalcy amongst the chaos moving in will bring.
Because Reese will have the bonus room over the garage as her room, there isn't a closet built into the room.  I stumbled upon this little gem.  So cute right?!  Then I thought... I could turn that into a closet system!  We could put a top on it, maybe some doors on the bench portion or even a cute little curtain.  She has a dresser, so it would just be for hanging items.  I think it could work!
The bonus room also has a little alcove in the front.  Reese will have a little reading nook.  SCORE!  It'll be a great spot for her to have some quiet time while others are napping or during one of her emotional break downs. :)
We have adorable balloonish valances for the girls' windows along with the darkening roll blinds.  Ours will for sure be getting this little makeover.  Simply add some beautiful fabric to the front and voila!
 For each of the children:
This would be BEAUTIFUL above a low lieing dresser... for Emma Grace.
-
In search of old ugly light fixtures.  Each girl WILL have one of these!  Spray painting in the house!
Reese just finished her first year of ballet/tap, so this WILL be how we display her little slippers.  Emma Grace starts this fall!
Can't wait 'til they have a place to call all their own!
